The largest transaction in five years is planned in the Russian pharmacy industry. One of the main pharmaceutical distributors "Katren" is negotiating the acquisition of 50.01% of shares of "Erkapharm" group of companies.

It is assumed that the deal will save the group of companies from bankruptcy and will allow Erkapharm to pay off its debts within seven years. At present Erkapharm owes about 5 billion rubles to Sberbank and another 3.5 billion to its two main distributors - the Protek implementation center and the pharmaceutical company "Pulse".

Vladimir Spiridonov, the head of Katren, had already sent an application for purchase to the Federal Antimonopoly Service on April 30.

The last deal of this level was made in 2017. At that time, Erkapharm acquired the network of Rosta Group, which was three times larger than it by the number of outlets. The amount of the deal remained unknown.
