Exports of agricultural products from Russia surpassed imports by almost one billion dollars in 2020, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

He said that now in Russia there is an opportunity to implement major infrastructure projects at the expense of domestic production and by changing the program of import substitution. Thus, to date, according to the Prime Minister, substantial funding has already been directed to the industries prepared for import substitution.

Mishustin noted that in 2020, the volume of agricultural exports amounted to 271 billion rubles, exceeding imports by almost 1 billion dollars.

"This is a direct consequence from these investments," he stressed.

In addition, to increase the share of domestic goods in public procurement from 49% to 57%, special quotas allowed.

This year, the Russian budget provides more than 330 billion rubles for import substitution.

Earlier, the federal center Agroexport under the Ministry of Agriculture informed that in 2020, a record was set for the size of agro-industrial exports. In total, last year, the Russian Federation supplied food such goods to other countries to more than 150 countries. China became the largest importer in this sector, with purchases exceeding four billion dollars.
