Authorities plan to cut the cost of tours to Kamchatka by three times

High price of tours is a deterrent for tourism development in Kamchatka. Now the government is aiming to lower the cost by three times, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

"The global, key constraining factor for the development of mass tourism in Kamchatka is logistical constraints. In connection with this, the high cost of tours. Talking to citizens, we have learned that, for example, only 20% of residents have been to the Valley of Geysers," - he said.

Now, he said, the authorities are focusing on the development of small aircraft, as it is much cheaper compared to helicopters and has a positive impact not only on tourism, but also on the development of the region as a whole.

"There will be an opportunity to reduce the cost of travel by three times - this is the goal we have set for ourselves, for the authorities of the region", - said Deputy Prime Minister. He also pointed out the need to modernize existing airfields of the region for light aircraft.

Already this year, according to him, in case of Rosaviation support, about three out of 30 planned airports will be involved.

State funding and private investment will be used for that. For example, the construction of the runway at one of the airports is already engaged in the resident territory of advanced development. In addition, an investor has been selected for the supply of new aircraft that will begin this year.
