Mariculture hub, wind farm and catamaran fleet projects presented on Sakhalin

Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Russian Far East, paid a visit to Sakhalin during which he met with investors and familiarised himself with their projects.

Following the talks, he asked the regional government to provide him with proposals on facilitating the implementation of these projects.

Investors, in his words, need suitable conditions for business development and launch of new projects and the authorities should be open for dialogue and help in the construction of new enterprises and creation of jobs, the press service of the envoy reports. He emphasized that it allows to create new jobs, attract new taxes and opportunities for the subsequent repair of roads, schools and hospitals.

The company "Gidrostroy" submitted to the vice-premier a project to build a fish logistics terminal in the port of Korsakov with an annual turnover of up to one million tons of fish products. Besides, it plans to create a mariculture hub in Busse lagoon, which will include a mini-hotel, an aquaculture farm with a fresh sea delicatessen restaurant, glamping, a playground and a terrace on the waterfront.

Yuzhno-Kurilskiy fish processing plant presented a project on the construction of an enterprise where fish meal and fish oil will be produced on the South Kuril island of Kunashir. Eastern Mining Company described its plans for a 67.2 MW wind farm.

The Czech company MCE Investment International is engaged in pre-project documentation for the establishment of a timber processing plant in the region. South Korean SI Corporation is also at the stage of developing pre-project documentation for a cement plant with an annual capacity of 700 thousand tons.

The Vladivostok free port resident company Morspetsservice has announced its intention to build a fleet of 21-meter and 33-meter commercial autonomous multi-purpose high-speed catamarans for development of Sakhalin tourist routes.

The company "Onekotan Archipelago" will start building a tourist cluster in the Northern Kurils already this summer. The investor plans to build a hotel, a network of glamping and light bases in Kurils, a network of the equipped walking routes and fish-farming complex on Shimoyur river.
