There is a high demand for watercraft in Sweden this year. Domestic recreational boat manufacturers have increased their shipments to this European country against this background, according to the website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Thus, according to the ministry, in March this year the cost of supplies from Russia was three times higher than last year for the same month - $ 221 thousand versus $ 66.7 thousand a year earlier.

According to the profile association Sweboat, the country has never had such a high demand for boats before. It is noted that last year's sales were the highest since 2007, with both the aftermarket for boats and the market for related materials and services growing.

This trend is set to continue this year as demand far exceeded supply in the spring, Sweboat forecasts. Because of this, buyers have to wait months for deliveries.

"Against this background, the sharp increase in shipments of recreational boats from Russia to Sweden is remarkable. According to Swedish official statistics, the value of Russian shipments only in the commodity position "vessels and boats for recreation or sports up to 7.5 meters in length rose to 482.3 thousand dollars in 2020," the report says.

The Trade Representation of the Russian Federation regularly monitors the market, and now the monitoring shows high growth potential for supplies from the Russian Federation, according to the website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In this connection the representative office works to attract Russian suppliers to Sweden, organizes production cooperation and provides assistance in expanding production of domestic manufacturers using resources of Swedish partners.
