EXPERT: Russian goods exports through online marketplaces could increase 10-fold
Russia can increase exports of goods through electronic trading platforms up to 10 billion dollars a year. Ilya Kretov, general director of eBay on global emerging markets, said this at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
"The dynamics are colossal. The pandemic has added to the growth of online around the world. The whole world has made a quantum leap in e-commerce. Russia jumped 3 years ahead, America almost 2 years ahead. The online export market broke through $1 billion in 2020 - a 42% growth," Kretov said.
Moreover, he estimated that Russian exporters could increase this volume by 10 times.
"By all the dynamics we see, this market could well be 10 billion from Russia. The question is how quickly we will get there with our joint efforts," he is confident.
