Production volumes of the Russian coronavirus vaccine CoviVac are planned to increase several times. This is evidenced by the developer's data presented at the stand of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Thus, the production prospects at the site of the Chumakov Centre are about 10 million doses, and it is planned to increase the production 4-6 times.

The vaccine CoviVac was registered at the end of February 2010 and entered into civil circulation on March 28. The developer of the vaccine is the Federal Research Centre for Immunobiological Preparation Research and Development named after Chumakov.

The vaccine is based on an inactivated or "killed" whole virus. When this vaccine is used the human immune system develops antibodies to all the structural proteins of the virus.
