PhosAgro aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 31% by 2028

PhosAgro, the largest supplier of phosphate-based fertilizers in Russia and Europe, has defined its climate strategy, under which the company plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 31% by 2028. Alexander Sharabayko, PhosAgro board member and Deputy CEO for Finance and International Projects, said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - 2021.

"In 2020, we have defined our climate strategy. Of course, the main target is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By 2028, our target - 31% of specific emission of greenhouse gases should decrease," Sharabayko said at the session "New Challenges of Green Economy. Can the crisis slow down the inevitable?".

He added that the company has also transformed its work with suppliers as part of its climate strategy.

"We have done fruitful work, the result of which is the scoring of all our suppliers according to ESG criteria. There are more than 60 of them, depending on the type of supplier and whether it is raw materials, process goods, they can vary. We have an internal target of covering 95% of all supplies by the end of 2021. So as far as the supply chain is concerned, this is more of a pioneering move. But, one way or another, all companies have to monitor not only the damage they do with their production, but also the damage that may come from the supply chain," said the representative of the company.

He reminded that PhosAgro, as the largest producer of phosphate fertilizers in Russia, produces environmentally friendly, carcinogen-free products.

"PhosAgro is a Russian vertically integrated company and one of the world's leading producers of phosphate-based fertilizers. Its products, under more than 50 brands, are sold in 102 countries.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is held from June 2 to 5. This year's topic is "Together Again. Economy of new reality". The event is organized by Roscongress Foundation.
