"We are at the very beginning of the journey": Russians mistake conventional products for organics

Russia is at the very beginning of the transition to "green" and organic products. According to Maksim Protasov, head of Roskachevo, speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, most citizens do not understand what these products are, mistaking them for products that do not meet this quality.

According to him, Russians now have a complete confusion of information about organic and "green" products.

"A recent study by the Roskatchestvo Center for Consumer Consumption Research showed that 82% of Russians regularly buy organic products, now not about "green" - they are not on the market. Think about it, 82%! When asked what products, name brands, they named all possible brands that are present in the market, of which not a single one is organic and has not received an organic certificate," Protasov said.

He stressed that this topic should be popularized and explained to people.

"In the organic and "green" topic we are at the very beginning of the way. It is necessary for us to explain and popularize this direction, to explain what it is," said the head of Roskachevo.

In this case, he noted that it is also necessary to develop the export potential of the Russian goods.

"If we make products which are not perceived within the market, how will we convince the world of them?" - Protasov said.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is taking place from June 2 to 5. This year's theme is "Together Again. The Economy of the New Reality". The event is organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
