Conflicting trends: organic agriculture cannot be "green

The "green" trend in agriculture contradicts the trend for organic products. This was stated at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum by Savva Shipov, Deputy CEO and Director of Digital Transformation at Uralchem.

"We need to understand that there are more trends and we need to keep an eye on all of them at once. The green trend is good, and organic is a good trend. But they contradict each other," the expert believes.

He explained that organic farming increases the area that must be used to grow produce. "This means more impact on the environment. And these trends come into conflict," he believes.

As a reminder, earlier, the head of Roskachestvo, Maxim Protasov, said that Russians do not understand what organic products are all about.

"82% of Russians responded that they regularly buy organic products, now not about "green" - it is not on the market. Think about it, 82%! When asked what products, name brands, they named all the possible brands that are present in the market, of which none are organic and have not received an organic certificate, "- he said.

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum takes place on June 2-5. This year the theme is "Together again. Economy of the new reality". The event is organized by Roscongress Foundation.
