Russian Sputnik V vaccine registered in Brazil

Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) has approved a license to import and administer the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in several states of the country, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said.

"Permission to import and use the vaccine by Brazilian states was granted after reviewing a technical report sent to ANVISA by the Russian Ministry of Health. In addition, the Russian side had previously provided the regulator with additional data confirming the absence of replicating adenovirus vectors (RCA). "Data from several countries using Sputnik V confirm the high safety and efficacy of the Russian vaccine," the RDIF said.

Brazil has become the 67th country where the use of Sputnik V has been approved. The total population of these countries exceeds 3.4 billion people. Sputnik V ranks second in the world in terms of the number of approvals received by government regulators.
