Russian specialists have created a technology that records and recreates dreams using a neural headset. It will become available to residents in 2025, RT reports citing the press service of the National Technology Initiative platform.

"We dream in the REM phase, accompanied by high brain activity. We will probably not be able to recreate dreams in detail, but we will be able to identify the category: pleasant, unpleasant, nightmare, sexual and so on. In other words, you will be able to understand your sensations of sleep," said Vladimir Konyshev, Head of the Neuro Robotics Laboratory of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

The first tests of recreating images arising in the human brain began in 2019. Participants in the experiment were shown various videos and recorded an electroencephalogram (EEG). The study showed that the EEG characteristics were different for different clips. In the second stage of the tests, a neural network analyzed the EEG data and created frames from which the category of dreams could be determined. As a result, the accuracy of the images was 90%.
