Udmurtia will be able to fully meet the demand for berries within the republic by 2027. This was announced by Olga Abramova, the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the region and the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Udmurtia.

"But I think that in five or six years we will be able to fully provide ourselves with berries. We have everything for that. Initiative farmers have appeared and are applying for grants", - TASS quoted her as saying.

She noted that the cultivation of fruit and berry crops is untraditional for the Republic, as it is located in the zone of risky agriculture.

The berry industry in the region began to form only in 2019, however, already in 2020, the harvest of fruits and berries in the republic was about 19.7 thousand tons. In 2021, it is planned to harvest almost 20 thousand tons of fruits and berries. All in all, about 2.8 thousand hectares are used to grow fruit and berries in the republic.
