Efko Group and food company Rusagro have demonstrated the highest revenue growth in the food industry, Kommersant reports, citing Infoline rating. Last year, the groups' turnover grew by 20.4% and 15%, respectively.

According to the rating, Efko (producing sauces, cooking oils and other products under Sloboda and Altero brands) became the fastest growing company in food industry in terms of revenue last year . The group's turnover went up by 20.4%, to 146.9 billion rubles, putting it ahead of the U.S. Mars, which has a turnover of 139.5 billion rubles in Russia.

Rusagro, which produces sugar, meat and fat and oil products under the Chaykofsky, Slovo Myasnika and Mechta Khozyaiki brands, showed comparable dynamics to Efko. Thus, the group's revenue increased by 15%, to 158.9 billion rubles. As a result, Rusagro has taken the third place, leaving behind the manufacturer of snacks and confectionery products KDV (producing under Kirieshki and Yashkino brands) with 153.9 billion rubles in revenue.

Infoline analysts attribute Efko's revenue growth to increased exports, including those to China and India, the expansion of soybean processing facilities in the Belgorod region, the launch of new margarine production lines in the Krasnodar region and also the purchase of 51% of the Lipetsk butter plant Liboil. "Rusagro attributed the increase in revenue to higher prices for oil and fats, pork and crops, as well as the expansion of meat processing, which helped to compensate for lower sales and sugar costs. In the first quarter of the year, Rusagro's revenues increased 52% to RUB 49.93 billion.

The leaders of the rating, as before, were international PepsiCo and Nestle. Their revenue in Russia grew by 2.8%, to 217 billion rubles and by 12.7%, to 165.8 billion rubles respectively.
