The trade turnover between Germany and the Sverdlovsk region exceeded $1.2 billion in 2020, the region's Ministry of International and Foreign Economic Relations said.

"At the end of 2020, Germany ranked second in the ranking of counterparty countries with a turnover of just over $1.2 billion. German business is already implementing a number of major projects in the Sverdlovsk region," the head of the department, Vasily Kozlov, said in the report.

The Ministry specified that the greatest growth of economic relations was observed in machine building industry. Exports in the first quarter of 2021 grew by 5.5% and imports from Russia increased by 30%.
