Russia resumes supplying honey to Singapore

Russia has resumed honey supplies to Singapore after a three-year break. According to the federal center Agroexport, Novgorod-based company Medovy Dom sent there more than 1 ton of its products.

The product line included 65 items, however honey accounted for the major part of exports - over 230 kg. The company also exported tea, candies, jams, jam, and soufflé.

According to the company's representative, the sales have already showed good results and the company is getting ready for the next shipment of honey.

At the same time, the company stressed that their products were carefully prepared and adapted to the requirements of the importing country. "It was necessary to collect mandatory documentation, translate information about the product into a foreign language, apply the necessary labeling," the exporters said.

According to the Federal Customs Service, Russia exported 2.3 thousand tons of natural honey in 2020, which - 18% more than the volume of 2019. The biggest buyers this year are Belarus ($389 thousand), Poland ($279 thousand) and China ($260 thousand).

Singapore imports more than $21 million worth of honey annually, making the country the 20th largest importer of the product in the world.
