A 6 billion ruble kaolin products plant will be built in the Orenburg region

A kaolin beneficiation plant and production of products on its basis will be opened in Svetlinsky district of the Orenburg region, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said.

"The Department for Subsoil Use in the Volga Federal District has summed up the results of the tender for subsoil use in Svetlinsky district. LB Minerals-Svetloe will mine kaolins at the Kovylnoye deposit, one of the largest, with reserves of about 400 million tons. The company is part of the Austrian holding Lasselsberger, one of the largest ceramic tile manufacturers in the Central and Eastern European market. The holding company operates more than 70 production sites, 5 of which are in Russia. At the beginning of this year, the governor of the Orenburg region, Denis Pasler, met with the company's management. At the meeting, they discussed the prospects for building a kaolin beneficiation and kaolin-based products plant in Svetlinsky District", the ministry said.

According to the local authorities, the number of new jobs at the plant will exceed 400.

"Here, the new plant will produce enriched kaolin, metakaolin, fireclay, quartz sand - the total production capacity of more than 2 million tons per year. The project investments will total over 6 billion rubles," said Denis Pasler, Governor of the Orenburg Region.

The construction of the plant is scheduled to begin in 2022.
