Plants in Moscow will work as usual over the extended weekend

Industrial enterprises in Moscow will continue to work as usual over the weekend announced by the city authorities, said Vladimir Yefimov, Deputy Mayor of the capital.

In particular, continuous cycle enterprises, strategic industries, life support organizations and essential services will continue to work.

On Saturday, the mayor of Moscow announced the extension of the weekend in the capital until June 19 against the background of the situation with coronavirus. The work of food-courts in shopping malls has been suspended for this time. These establishments, according to Efimov, will only be able to work for delivery. There have also been imposed restrictions on the night work of bars, restaurants and cafes.

As the vice-mayor said, holidays were introduced primarily for office workers. He reminded that companies will continue to work, subject to new recommendations. It is a question of transferring 30% of employees to remote work of those who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus. In addition, people over the age of 65 and people with chronic diseases should be transferred to remote work. Visits to organisations by employees whose activities are not related to the production process will also be restricted.

"Restrictions are only introduced for a week, so no additional support measures are planned yet," Yefimov said.
