Foreign companies Coca-Cola and Danone want to buy bins for separate waste collection
Members of RusPro Association, which unites large foreign food and beverage manufacturers, including Coca-Cola, Nestle, Danone, intend to create an infrastructure for separate waste collection (RDF) and teach the population how to handle waste correctly within the framework of a pilot project.
According to the head of the association Pavel Rudas in a conversation with RBC, the cost of the pilot will exceed 150 million rubles, and will be launched in July this year in one of the Russian regions.
Almost half of the mentioned cost will be spent on purchase and delivery of containers. The companies propose to recycle the collected recyclable materials and then make the packaging. However, this requires that the authorities exempt companies from paying the environmental fee in proportion to the amount of collected recyclable materials, said Rudas.
Nature Ministry spokeswoman Marina Evseeva said the ministry supports the initiatives of companies and associations, if businesses also pay for the service themselves, not at the expense of citizens.
