A robot seller of sim cards from Russia started working in Barcelona

Russian company Promobot and Spanish telecom holding OliveNet have developed a robot for selling sim cards which has started working in Barcelona, Promobot's development director Oleg Krivokurtsev told TASS news agency.

"The robot combines two technologies: automated issuance of sim cards and fast registration of the subscriber through the application. It will help at all stages: it will explain how to download the application and register, as well as support a conversation on any topic, using a dialogue system and a linguistic base in Spanish and English," Krivokurtsev said.

It is noted that the robot gives out sim-cards of local operators, using technology of remote self-identification. For this purpose, the device has integration functions with various systems and third-party applications.

In case the pilot project proves to be successful, at least 10 such robots will be built in other Spanish cities. The potential contract amount is estimated at 500 thousand euros.

"Promobot" is the largest manufacturer of autonomous service robots in Russia and Europe. Its specialists develop mechatronics, electronics, artificial intelligence and neural networks, autonomous navigation, speech recognition, artificial skin and muscles, and man-machine interaction. The company has been a resident of the Skolkovo IT cluster since 2015.
