American company iHerb, which specializes in selling vitamins and dietary supplements, plans to invest 1.5 billion rubles in product registration in Russia, Vedomosti reports citing a company representative.

As the iHerb told the newspaper, it will enable the company to sell its products including in Russian pharmacies. Currently, they can only be purchased on its marketplace on terms of cross-border trade. The company plans to register a total of about 10 thousand items.

One of the representatives of the largest pharmacy chains in Russia, 36.6 CEO Alexander Kuzin shared with the publication that the pharmacy chains would be interested in cooperating with iHerb, because the exclusive products presented in the online store have formed their circle of consumers, and some of them can go to pharmacies.

According to him, the market of nutritional supplements in Russia is now actively growing due to the fashion for a healthy lifestyle. According to DSM Group, last year the sales of nutritional supplements in pharmacy chains grew by 17.1% to 74.1 billion roubles.
