The first Russian software and hardware complex (SWC) for creation of virtual workplaces was invented in Russia, the press service of Rosatom State Corporation said.

"With the support of Rosenergoatom (part of Rosatom - ed.), the first fully domestic software and hardware complex for creating virtual workplace infrastructure appeared in Russia, created on the basis of own products of Astra Linux and Delta Solutions groups of companies. The project has successfully passed comprehensive load testing," the report says.

The project has been implemented as part of the Russian government's import substitution program, on behalf of Rosenergoatom Concern, which also acted as its reference customer. The test results showed that the solution functions stably and correctly. The PAC's capacity allows organizing a fault-tolerant configuration for simultaneous operation of 1 thousand users, and in the future their number will be increased 10 times, Rosatom explained.

"It's noteworthy that the new PAC is entirely designed on the basis of domestic products. ...The software base for it became the operating systems of Astra Linux family, the software complex "Brest virtualization tools" and connection manager Termidesk for Astra. Domestic servers and storage systems Delta Computers acted as the hardware," - specified in the corporation.

In the nearest future the developers plan to expand the composition of the PAC with the domestic system of data backup and recovery RuBackup.

According to Ilya Sivtsev, the CEO of Astra Linux, the development will enable companies to reduce the cost of IT-systems, as well as provide their centralized and convenient administration and secure remote work of employees. Sergei Migalin, Rosenergoatom Concern's deputy general director and director for economics and finance, explained that the active use of virtual desktops based on Astra Linux began back in the peak of the pandemic, "but in 2021 the company faces an even more global task of import substitution of all hardware.
