French clothing chain Kiabi plans to develop a franchise in Russia

Clothing chain Kiabi (included in the holding of the Muller family: the networks Auchan, Leroy Merlin, Decathlon, Green Light, Mondial Carpet) plans to develop in Russia as a franchise, which may almost double the number of points in the country in 2021, says "Kommersant", citing sources in the industry.

According to estimates the general director of "Infoline-Analytics" Mikhail Burmistrov, with qualitative working out of the package and attractive terms, Kiabi will be able to negotiate the opening of up to 15 franchise stores this year, and in the medium term to reach the rate of opening up to three such outlets a month. At the same time, according to the expert, Kiabi is unlikely to find major regional partners, most likely the company will work with local operators who will develop several stores.

Anna Rozhdestvenskaya, an expert at Franshiza.ru portal, believes that due to the unpredictable situation with shopping centers due to the pandemic, the chain is likely to look for experienced regional partners with a solid set of brands.
