The share of non-cash trade turnover in SMEs in Russia increased by 4% over the year

The share of cashless trade turnover in small and medium-sized businesses in Russia has increased from 54% to 58% for the year, TASS writes with reference to the analysis of over 750 thousand smart terminals of the Evotor IT company.

"Over the year, the share of cashless trade turnover in small and medium-sized businesses increased from 54% to 58%. In Moscow, this figure increased from 61% to 63%, in St. Petersburg - from 59% to 65%," the company found out.

A year ago cash payments were more popular than non-cash payments in half of Russian regions, the company's analysts said. However, in May this year there is only a quarter of such regions. For example, the share of cashless payments increased from 48% to 55% in Tatarstan, from 46% to 53% in the Voronezh region, and from 45% to 52% in the Krasnodar region. But the highest share of payments by card in the turnover of small and medium-sized businesses remains in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, where over the year this figure increased from 75% to 77%. Kaliningrad Region is also among the growth leaders, where the share of non-cash turnover in small business grew over the year from 49% to 58%.

Card payments are most often made in service and catering enterprises. In response to customer requests, microbusinesses are also beginning to introduce cashless payments. According to "Evotor" analysts, the leaders of "cashless" growth in May 2020 were ice cream kiosks, where the share of turnover by card increased during the year from 57% to 72%, as well as shops with ready-to-eat meals.
