Hypermarket "Lenta" will buy Perm retail chain "Semya" for 2,35 billion rubles

Lenta" hypermarket chain will acquire the fourth largest retailer in Perm region - "Semya" retail chain. The amount of transaction will be 2.35 billion rubles, according to the message on the retailer's web-site.

Semya manages 75 stores with a total area of over 46 thousand square meters all over the Perm Territory. Lenta plans to integrate Semya supermarkets and supply chain infrastructure into its retail chain. It is noted that Perm hypermarkets will be renamed Lenta, supermarkets will be renamed Super Lenta and convenience stores will be renamed Mini Lenta.

If approved by the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the transaction is expected to close this summer.

Lenta's share of the food retail market in the Perm region after the deal will be approximately 7%. At the same time, the purchase will strengthen the company's position as the fourth largest retailer in Perm.

Vladimir Sorokin, Lenta's CEO, stated that the increase in store portfolio will allow the company to expand its online express delivery offer throughout the region, including smaller cities where the online delivery market is still underdeveloped. He noted that once the deal is finalised, Lenta will strengthen its core hypermarket segment and close many of the new areas of the company's strategy.

In May, Lenta said it plans to integrate 161 supermarkets, logistics infrastructure and Bill Russia employees into its network. The deal is valued at €215 million. It is also scheduled to close this summer.

As of March, Lenta operates 254 hypermarkets and 140 supermarkets in 89 cities in the European part of the country.
