The largest LED production facility has opened at the Technopolis GS innovation cluster in the Kaliningrad Region. Investments in the project amounted to more than 300 million rubles, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia (Minpromtorg) said.

"The launch of the largest LED production in Russia is an important event for the development of the Russian radioelectronic industry. Production of 145 million LEDs per year with the prospect of expanding to 400 million will increase the competitiveness of these products and set a new level of quality LEDs. I note that lighting technology is one of the main promising markets for the industry, which is enshrined in the strategy for the development of the electronics industry, "- said the deputy head of the ministry Vasily Shpak.

The range of products includes LED types 2835 PLCC, 3030 EMC, and 5050 EMC, which together now account for more than 90% of the Russian market of lighting technology, the ministry said. The first production line of LEDs in the 2835 package has been launched. By the end of June 2021 the commissioning and start of production in the enclosures 3030 and 5050 will be completed.

"Technopolis GS is Russia's first private innovation cluster of 230 hectares. There are five integrated enterprises in the cluster whose total capacity allows producing up to 20 million microcircuits and up to 20 million radioelectronic products for various purposes per year.
