Production of the first test batch of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V has started at the facility of Swiss-Italian company Adienne Pharma & Biotech in northern Italy, according to the company's press service.

Earlier in March, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) agreed on it. President of the company Antonio Di Naro told the media that the vaccine doses produced at the facility will be available on the market no earlier than the end of 2021 after passing all necessary certification procedures.

The Russian vaccine Sputnik V has been registered in 66 countries with a total population of over 3.2 billion people. According to RDIF, post-vaccination studies in a number of countries demonstrate that Sputnik V is the safest and most effective vaccine against coronavirus. In terms of the number of approvals obtained by state regulators, the drug ranks second in the world.
