"Rostec acquired the largest producer of antiseptics in Russia

Rostec State Corporation became the owner of 26% of shares of the country's largest manufacturer of alcohol-containing pharmaceutical substances and antiseptics, RFK.

"The acquisition of RFK shares is in line with Rostec's development strategy aimed at expanding civilian areas of production, including for the benefit of healthcare. Using RFK's competences, the state corporation intends to expand its capabilities in the development, production, storage and sale of pharmaceutical substances and drugs," Rostec's press service said.

RFK pharmaceutical company has been operating since 2007 and is one of the key producers of some pharmaceutical products and antiseptics on the Russian market. Today, it is Russia's only supplier of alcohol-containing substances for pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceutical substances of "RFK" are used not only for production of own finished dosage forms, but also in production of vitally important drugs, including vaccines. The company's product is actively purchased by leading domestic and foreign pharmaceutical companies.

The state corporation reminded that Rostec includes pharmaceutical holding Natsimbio, established in 2013 to develop the production of immunobiological medicines important for national security. The holding unites the key Russian pharmaceutical companies Microgen and FORT. The product portfolio of the holding company includes more than 220 different medicines, including one of the most advanced products - COVID-Globulin for treatment of coronavirus infection.

Rostec did not disclose the cost of the deal.
