The Russian government has allocated more than 2.4 billion rubles to the Krasnoyarsk region for the purchase of modern electric transport, according to the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.

With the help of federal funds 50 trolleybuses and 25 trams made in Russia will be purchased.

"We expect that as a result of renewal of the public transport fleet in Krasnoyarsk the volume of harmful automobile emissions into the atmosphere will decrease and the environmental situation in the city will improve," Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

Earlier in June 4.8 billion rubles were allocated to upgrade the public transport fleet for the four industrial regions. In early July, the list of areas that can be financed in the regions with budgetary funds under the federal project "Clean Air" was expanded. It is planned that more than 1.8 billion rubles will be additionally allocated for this purpose in 2021.

Under the new rules, regions will be able to receive subsidies not only for purchasing more environmentally friendly types of public transport, but also for building or repairing the necessary infrastructure - trolleybus lines, tram tracks and depots. Funding will also be provided for construction and reconstruction of heating mains, gas pipelines and distribution networks to connect residential buildings and industrial enterprises to them.
