Experts summarized the interim results of the import substitution program
The import substitution program, which has been in effect in Russia since 2014, has cost the country's budget 2 billion rubles. Such data were published in a new study of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
Experts reminded that the main objectives of the program, created 7 years ago, was designated by 2020 to reduce imports of meat by 67.8%, vegetables - by 70%, fruit and berry products - by 20%, milk - by 25%.
According to analysts, the best results have been achieved in the meat industry - imports have been reduced by 65%: the supply of pork has fallen by almost 10 times, beef - by 2.5 times, poultry - by 2 times.
It turned out to be more difficult to increase milk production - the volume of imports was reduced only by 20%.
According to experts, as far as fruit is concerned, the program failed - import substitution amounted to 11%.
The import substitution policy has been declared in Russia since 2014, after the imposition of sanctions against Russia.
