Roscongress Foundation's project "Regions of Russia" published on their YouTube channel a new story, which this time was dedicated to the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

The new release included unique materials, an interview with Yuri Gagarin's grandson and footage of the launch of the Soyuz-2.1.a launch vehicle from Baikonur.

"Baikonur is the place where the road to space was first opened to mankind. The fourth of October 1957 is considered the date of the beginning of the space age - it was the day when the first artificial satellite was launched from Baikonur. The former Soviet space launching site built in 1955 is located in Kazakhstan's Kyzylorda Oblast and is leased by Russia for launching scientific missions", the video description reads.
