Russian exporting companies will be able to obtain halal certificates according to Turkish standards

Russian entrepreneurs will be able to obtain halal certificates under a simplified scheme for exporting their products to Turkey. The issue of certification was discussed by Veronika Nikishina, CEO of the Russian Export Center (REC), and Mustafa Tuzcu, Turkey's Deputy Minister of Trade, during the Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit 2021.

"Turkish halal market is very capacious, while it is not fully realized. We see interest among Russian companies that want to be accredited and start selling their products in Turkey. Russian entrepreneurs can apply to hac to make the first export deliveries quickly and barrier-free," Mustafa Tuzcu said.

According to the REC head, today in the Muslim world there is no unified Halal standard, and each state has its own approach to the issue. Therefore, we need to come to a unified certification of Halal products, which would be valid in the territory of Eurasia, as well as in the Islamic world. The single certificate, according to REC, will help exporters to save time and money to adapt their products to the local market.

"We are interested in unifying the halal standard, because now exporters have to constantly adapt both the product itself and production to the standards of markets in different countries. We are ready to be actively involved in developing a common standard for halal products," - said Veronica Nikishina.

As noted in the REC, the first training workshop on certification and obtaining the halal standard for Russian entrepreneurs will be held in the fall.

International economic summit of Russia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states "Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit-2021" will take place from July 28 to 30 in Kazan. The summit aims to strengthen trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural ties between Russia and the OIC member states. The leitmotif of the Forum in 2021 is conscious consumption; the key topics of the business programme include partner finance, the halal industry, youth diplomacy, medicine, sport, creative industries, export development, entrepreneurship and investment. The venue of the event also hosts the Russia Halal Expo and the Mechanical Engineering Cluster Forum. In 2019, the summit was attended by 3.5 thousand delegates from 72 countries and 38 regions of Russia. This year, more than 2.5 thousand people from 60 countries are participating in the summit.
