The Philippines has approved the use of Sputnik Lite

The use of a single-component Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik Lite was approved in the Philippines, the press service of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said.

The Philippines had already approved the two-component Sputnik V vaccine in March.

"The approval of the Sputnik Light single-component vaccine by the Philippine national regulator will add another Russian coronavirus vaccine to the vaccine portfolio, which has demonstrated safety and high efficacy in countries around the world. "Sputnik Lite already demonstrates efficacy after the first injection higher than many two-component vaccines," said RDIF CEO Kirill Dmitriev.

To date, according to the press service, Sputnik Lite shows high safety and efficacy in vaccination in many countries. For example, earlier the Ministry of Health of Buenos Aires Province in Argentina declared 78.6-83.7% efficacy of Sputnik Lite in vaccinating elderly people. In Paraguay, the efficacy of the drug exceeded 93% during mass vaccination.
