Chuvashia has increased the volume of export deliveries by about one third in the first half of this year. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation with reference to the head of the republic Oleg Nikolayev.

"In the first six months of this year, enterprises and organizations in Chuvashia sent products worth 137.8 million dollars (this is about seven percent of all exports to the Volga region). In comparison with the same period of the last year, export has grown by 28.6%," the Department said.

It is specified that a year ago the index was 107.1 million dollars. Now the commodity structure is dominated by products of chemical industry (40%), electric appliances (33%) and food (14%).

The Leader of Chuvashia said that local manufacturers supplied goods to 79 countries. Kazakhstan ($48.6 million), Belarus (over $19 million), Uzbekistan ($7.3 million), China (over $7 million) and Poland ($5 million) were the main importers of republican products.

"At the end of the first half of the year, supplies of engineering products, including electrical machinery, have increased by 23 million dollars, while agricultural raw materials and foodstuffs have been sent for six million dollars more," Nikolaev added.

Today, the region has more than 350 export-oriented companies, of which the majority (92%) are small and medium businesses.
