Avtovaz expects to launch production of electric cars in 6-7 years, said president of the automaker Nicolas Mor.

"We hope that Lada will start production of electric cars in 2027-2028. These are the plans that we will discuss with the government how this can be implemented," he said at the International Automotive Forum (IMAF).

At the same time Mohr pointed out that production of electric cars requires support from the authorities. According to him, such support is being rendered: for example, free passage of electric cars on toll roads is planned for 2022. Besides, the government will help producers of electric vehicles and batteries to finance construction of factories.

Earlier it was reported that a shortage of electronic components caused the automaker to stop production of cars at its Togliatti plant for a week.
