Trade turnover between Russia and Japan increased by 18%

The trade turnover between Russia and Japan increased by 18% in the first six months of 2021. According to the Japan Association for Trade with Russia and Newly Independent States, its volume amounted to 9.7 billion rubles in monetary terms.

According to TASS, exports from Japan to Russia grew by 35.4% to $3.8 billion, and imports from Russia increased by 9% to $5.9 billion.

The organization said Russia increased its profits from oil shipments to Japan by 12.7% and from liquefied natural gas by 10.4%. Japan increased exports of new and used cars by 19% and 38.8% respectively.

Recall that in 2020, due to the pandemic, trade turnover between the two countries dropped to nearly $16.6 billion. The decrease was 22.8% compared to the 2019 figures.
