Russia and China Discussed Disputable Issues in Mutual Trade

The issues of eliminating trade restrictions arising against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic were discussed in the framework of Russian-Chinese consultations. It was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Economic Development, Industry and Trade, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Transport, Agriculture, Rosselkhoznadzor, Rosrybolovstvo, Rospatent, Rosstandart and Russian Railways.

The parties discussed difficulties in exporting Russian agricultural and water products to the People's Republic of China (PRC), as well as ensuring uninterrupted supply of goods through road and railway checkpoints and issues of protecting the interests and rights of Russian companies operating in China.

Besides, the issue of levying a consumption tax on synthetic sapphires imported from Russia was raised. The Chinese side confirmed that the State Council of China was preparing a legal act to solve the problem.

"We have agreed with our Chinese partners on specific steps to resolve contentious issues in a number of areas, including in the areas of road transport, tax policy and standardization. The task is to ensure the most comfortable conditions for our businesses and enterprises, which will help increase exports and create new jobs," Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economic Development Alexander Dianov commented on the results of the consultations.
