Production cost of milk products increased by 18% over the year

The production cost of dairy products in Russia increased by 18% over the year, said Artem Belov, General Director of Soyuzmoloko.

He said that the profitability of milk production and processing over the past few years has shown positive dynamics due to the course of import substitution and against the background of the weak ruble.

"Now the situation is seriously changing, the cost of production is growing. In raw materials, for the last year, the cost has increased by almost 18%," said Belov, specifying that prices have become higher for all the associated costs of production - feed, fertilizers and diesel fuel.

He also said the profitability of production has fallen. The annual profit, according to the head of Soyuzmoloko, is about 35 billion rubles at the proceeds of the industry above one trillion rubles.

The same situation is in milk processing, where the cost price has grown by 6-8%, Belov added. The price on the market at the same time does not allow to cover the growth of production costs.

"We see only 3% growth of the price on the shelves. In essence, the dairy industry is a deflator of the economy as a whole, which is good for customers and the government, but it is not good from the perspective of the long-term industry," said the director general of Soyuzmoloko.
