The country's largest turkey producer, Damate, has become the first company in Russia to implement an international halal management system (Halal Management Assurance System) at its facilities. The company will now be able to supply products to almost all Muslim countries, according to Damate's website.

"DamateGroup, the largest turkey producer in the country, has become the first company in Russia to implement an international halal Management Assurance System at its facilities," the statement reads.

The system was presented during international economic summit "Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Summit 2021". Its main principle is to organize and provide independent control over all components and stages of production - from the supply of raw materials and ingredients, feed production, animal and poultry fattening to processing, packaging, storage and sales.

The company noted that the advantages of the international system include its guarantee of compliance with halal requirements due to the independence of inspectors from company management. The system also has an internationally recognized structure, content and a system of documented assurance and monitoring. This removes an additional burden from the enterprise in the form of constant third-party supervision during audits by the relevant accredited bodies.

"Damate" is also planning to undergo audits, which will allow it to supply products to Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, among others.
