Thailand's CP Foods will buy Russian pork producer AIC Don
Thai agro-industrial and food conglomerate CP Foods has agreed to buy a major Russian pork producer, agro-industrial company (APK) Don, for 22 billion rubles, Kommersant reports.
The main owner of the company is the German Tonnies Russland Agrar GmbH of the Tonnies family, which owns the major European meat producer Tonnies Group. AIC Don operates assets in the Belgorod and Voronezh regions. In 2020 the consolidated revenue of the company was 10.4 billion rubles, operating profit was 1.6 billion.
According to the National Union of Pork Producers, in 2020 the holding's enterprises ranked 11th in Russia in terms of pork production.
It is expected that the purchase of AIC Don will allow CP Foods to reach seventh place by this indicator. The deal will strengthen CP Foods' position in the Russian pork market.
CP Foods is part of the CP Group conglomerate that owns pork production facilities in the Moscow, Lipetsk, Kaluga and Kursk regions and the Severnaya and Voyskovitsy poultry farms near St. Petersburg. The Company also controls Norway's Russia Baltic Pork Invest (RBPI), which also produces pork products in Russia.
