The number of people wishing to start their own businesses has decreased in Russia

The number of Russian residents who are ready to start their own business has declined over the past year. A survey by international research company Ipsos shows that the strongest decline is observed in the Russian capital and cities with a population of millions, writes Inc. Russia.

Respondents were asked whether they are confident that they could start their own company.Positive answers in Moscow compared with last year dropped by 5 percentage points (down from 41% to 36%).

In St. Petersburg, interest in owning their own business remained at the same level. Thus, in the northern capital 35% of respondents answered in the affirmative to the question about their willingness to start their own business, as it was a year ago

However, the situation has changed in the regions. Last year, the number of people who said they were ready to start their own company was 39%, while this year that number has dropped to 36%.

The survey was conducted between May 31 and July 16 this year among 5.5 thousand Russians over the age of 16 in cities with populations of more than 100,000.
