In case of approval of the tax for foreign IT-companies, the Russian budget will receive from 53 million to 103 million dollars annually, according to Forbes, citing a study by PwC commissioned by the Ministry of Finance. The agency plans to direct this funding to domestic companies.

The magazine said that the Digital Library had asked several major IT companies to check the agency's estimates regarding the support of the Russian Internet market. These companies, in turn, brought in PwC as an independent consultant.

Analysts of the agency calculated possible fees from foreign IT-companies, on the basis of estimates of revenues to the budget of France from a similar digital tax. In this European country, since 2019, international IT companies pay 3% of the revenue they earned in France, if their total turnover is at least 750 million euros, of which from 25 million euros account for the territory of the country. As noted in the study, in France for the year the proceeds to the French budget in the form of taxes of foreign digital companies amounted to 415 million dollars.

When calculating the Russian market analysts took into account the number of Internet users (in Russia there are about two times more) and the number of domestic IT-companies. As follows from the document, according to "informal estimate" Yandex in the Russian companies accounted for about 60% of the Internet market - in money terms and the number of users.

Also the researchers proceeded from the fact that the average user's check on Facebook when using paid features in France is 5.6 times higher compared with Russia. Furthermore, GDP per capita in France is 4.6 times higher, and the price per thousand impressions of an ad banner on YouTube in France is roughly three times higher.
