Rostourism speaks out on the subject of price regulation in the hotel business

Rostourism does not support the idea of state regulation of prices in the Russian hotel stock, hotels should compete with each other to offer travelers quality service, said the head of the department Zarina Doguzova.

"Rostourism has never supported and does not support any artificial regulation of market prices. There is a market, there is a dynamic pricing and the government should not interfere in such market relations. This issue was at issue all summer long: hotels overpriced, yes, indeed there were some cases of unscrupulous overpricing which we prevented at once. But when we are talking about dynamic pricing - these problems should and can be solved by market means, creating healthy competition, "- said Doguzova at the Eastern Economic Forum - 2021.

According to her, the main task of the authorities is to create conditions for this market competition through the emergence of as many quality modern hotels under international or federal brands in the country as possible, so that they set high quality standards.

"Hotels must constantly compete with each other. If we have high competition, we will have a quality product that is competitive in terms of price-quality ratio. In other words, tourists will be able to get adequate, comparable quality for adequate money. No price regulation will allow us to create such a ratio, "- said the head of department.

Earlier Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced that it was developing the bill that will restrict the economically unjustified increase in prices for accommodation in hotels and hotels during major international events. As noted in the agency, the need for this emerged after receiving numerous complaints and appeals from citizens and businesses. The Federal Antimonopoly Service plans to develop this bill by October 1.
