Kamchatka authorities and Duracell agreed on removal and recycling of batteries

The U.S. company Duracell will start removing used batteries from Kamchatka Territory free of charge for their subsequent disposal, said Vladimir Solodov, the Territory's governor.

"We have reached an agreement with Duracell on the removal of used batteries from the peninsula. The largest producer will take care of transportation and disposal costs," he wrote in his official Telegram channel.

During the Eastern Economic Forum, Yury Korotayev, General Director of Duracell in Russia, appealed to regional waste sorting operators to contact the company in this regard. He specified that one ton of batteries will be taken away free of charge from any point in the country.

At the same time, according to Solodov, Duracell will also assist in equipping the region with containers for the collection of batteries. "We will pay special attention to connecting schools to this environmental action," he added.

Duracell is an American manufacturer of galvanic cells, batteries and accumulators. The company's electrical products are currently produced in different parts of the world.

The Eastern Economic Forum takes place in Vladivostok from the second to the fourth of September. The main theme of this year's event is "New Opportunities for the Far East in a Changing World". The forum is organised by the Roscongress Foundation.
