Yakutia intends to create a film and animation fund to support regional industry, said the region's head Aysen Nikolayev at the session "Creative Industries for Economic Breakthrough: Regional Optics" of the Eastern Economic Forum.

He said that at the moment the authorities of the republic on a competitive basis allocated about 80 million rubles for the development of cinema. However, in addition to this funding, according to Nikolaev, the industry requires private funds.

"We will create a fund for cinema and animation, which will attract off-budget investment," - said the head of Yakutia.

The Eastern Economic Forum takes place in Vladivostok from the second to fourth of September. The main theme of this year's event is "New Opportunities for the Far East in a Changing World. The forum is organised by the Roscongress Foundation.
