Rosrybolovstvo plans to reach 80% of fish processing by 2030 through investment quotas

Rosrybolovstvo plans to extend the investment quota mechanism for the Far East in order to reach the volume of fish processing up to 80% by 2030, said Ilya Shestakov, head of the department.

"We propose to continue the mechanism of investment quotas for the Far East. We need it in order to be able to reach a processing rate of 80-90%. Our strategic goal for the period until 2030 is 80%," Shestakov said during the Eastern Economic Forum - 2021.

He explained that this does not oblige fishermen only to process products. According to him, it is necessary that fishermen should be able to choose their way of implementing projects, as "someone sees himself in the construction of factories, someone wants to build up the fleet."

"We propose to implement another 20% of investment quotas for the Far East, to work with different approaches related to the requirements for vessels and fish processing plants. We propose to give 10% to fish processing enterprises, and 10% to vessels. This will allow us to build about 80 large fish-processing plants and up to 30 fishing vessels," - said the head of the Department.

The Eastern Economic Forum takes place in Vladivostok from the second to the fourth of September. The main theme of this year's event is "New Opportunities for the Far East in a Changing World". The forum is organised by Roscongress.
