Authorities in the Sakhalin Region are planning to build 1,000 electric vehicle fuel stations within two years, said Vyacheslav Alenkov, Deputy Chairman of the regional government.

"We are planning to build 1,000 electric filling stations in two years. This year 500 will be implemented," he said during the Eastern Economic Forum - 2021.

He noted that the government has already prepared a "road map" for the development of electric transport in the region, including the identification of investors who will build filling stations.

"Our task is to reach 11 thousand vehicles on electricity. Right now they are literally around zero," he added.

The Eastern Economic Forum takes place in Vladivostok from the second to the fourth of September. The main theme of this year's event is "New Opportunities for the Far East in a Changing World". The forum is organised by the Roscongress Foundation.
