Russia increased export of confectionery products by almost 20%

Export of confectionery products from Russia in the first half of 2021 in monetary terms increased by 19.3% - up to $709.5 million. This was reported by Vyacheslav Lashmankin, executive director of the Association of Confectionery Industry Enterprises "Askond".

As Izvestia reports, the supply volume has increased by 16.5% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 329.6 thousand tons.

Most of the supplies came from chocolate products. They have grown by 21.8% compared to the same period last year. This is the highest rate of growth among all kinds of sweets. Export of flour products went up by 12.8% to 146.6 thousand tons in the first half of 2021. Supplies of saccharine confectionery products (marshmallows, marmalades and other) also increased by 14.4% to 51.3 thousand tons.

To date, exports are carried out in 94 countries. The main buyers are the neighboring countries: Kazakhstan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, the countries of Central Asia. The following new markets are also developing: Serbia (+373% growth), Nigeria (+368%), Afghanistan (+323%), Yemen (+155%), Bulgaria (+120%) and Brazil (+110%).
