PIK's arrival in the Far East will provide jobs for small businesses, according to Opora Rossii

The launch of construction by real estate developer PIK in the Far East will have a positive impact on small businesses, as entrepreneurs will be provided with jobs, said Andrey Shubin, executive director of Opora Rossii, in an interview with Made in Russia on the margins of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

It became known in July that the PIK intends to build about 1.5 million square meters of housing under the "Far Eastern Quarter" program. And on September 1, the press service of the Primorye government said that the developer, as a resident of the Free Port of Vladivostok, will build a new residential area with a total area of over 100 thousand "squares.

"If we are talking about the PIK, this is good, because it is a construction site. According to Rosstat, 92 percent of the construction industry is small businesses. In fact, the arrival of PIK is a good thing, because the contractors can provide their own work, get orders, contract for construction, decoration, supply of engineering equipment," said Shubin.

However, he drew attention to another point: when a large company enters the region, it immediately "hires" all the already trained specialists and poaches them.

"This is a problem. There are already such cases in other regions. The question here is to what extent cooperation is implemented," added the representative of "Opora Rossii".

The Eastern Economic Forum was held in Vladivostok from the second to the fourth of September. The main theme of this year's event is "New Opportunities for the Far East in a Changing World. The forum is organised by the Roscongress Foundation.
