The first glamping base was opened in Chukotka

The first glamping base, Umka, opened in Chukotka on September 14, according to the website of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation. It was set up on a "Far Eastern hectare" near the village of Lavrentiya by local entrepreneur Maxim Krupenya.

"The first glamping base in Chukotka was built on land provided free of charge under the Far Eastern Hectare programme, and the entrepreneur also used various types of support. Now there are several dome constructions for tourists", - the report says.

Such facility will help to develop domestic tourism in the north-east of Chukotka and enhance tourist attractiveness of the region in general.

According to Krupeni, specifics of tourism business in Chukotka has pronounced seasonality due to severe climate conditions of the region, difficult accessibility and high cost of transport communication. He noted that the main difference between glamping and camping is a diametrically opposite approach.

"Camping campsites are for people willing to sacrifice comfort for the sake of nature. On the contrary, glamping sites are chosen by those, who are not ready to give up their usual comforts even for the sake of natural beauty", the entrepreneur said.

In addition to comfortable lodging, glamping guests can take advantage of shuttle services. Tourists can also take part in excursions and entertaining and sports programs.

To open the camping site entrepreneur has taken a 5 million rubles microloan at 5.5%. The total investment was about 6 million roubles, 500 thousand roubles of which were allocated as a grant by the Department of Finance.
